EUDIS Hackathon 2025 in Denmark: Ukrainian forces need your help!

Lagt online: 09.04.2025

Do you have a bright idea on how to improve soldiers' tactical surveillance in real time? How about developing AI-guided wearables for monitoring physical and mental states in battle? Ukraine needs your best ideas.

Af Pola Rojan Bagger, communications adviser, NFC

Passion for making a difference for the embattled Ukrainian troops is all that is required. Although, having flair for technology does not hurt.

Powered by the European Defence Fund (EDF) through The EU Defence Innovation Scheme (EUDIS) the Hackathon 2025 offers you a unique chance to apply your knowledge and skillset to real-life challenges and help Ukrainians in fighting for their freedom.

The event takes place in eight different European countries simultaneously on 9-11 May: Denmark, Germany, Spain, Poland, Italy, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Latvia.

The Danish venue is the Aalborg University campus in Copenhagen. The Hackathon starts at 3 pm on Friday and runs till Sunday afternoon.

The National Defense Technology Center is the local organizer of the Danish event partnering with Center for Defence, Space & Security (CenSec), the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), Innovation Fund Denmark and finally the Export & Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO).

This is an opportunity to build a professional network that you will benefit from for the rest of your life perhaps even taking the first steps in forming your own business ideas and gathering the team necessary for being an entrepreneur.

The Hackathon 2025 is a close-contact environment of skilled minds giving you a free platform to showcase your abilities and ideas in front of leaders and frontrunners who can help advance your career.

The 3 Hackathon challenges

  • Enhanced Situational Awareness and Tactical Surveillance Systems
  • Cost-Effective Protective Gear for Frontline Defence
  • Advanced Medical Support for Frontline Care

There is an unmistakable bigger perspective to keep in mind, says Peter Sperling, chief innovations officer of the National Defence Technology Center:

"In order to help Ukraine we need to outsmart the Russians. This isn't about big bombs, it's about big ideas. We're far more innovative than they are. Our creativity and ingenuity will be the decisive factors in our victory. It's far better to hack them rather than bombing them".

The winning team of 2024 from Poland drove home the first prize with a concept of subsea surveillance of critical infrastructure. Read more about it here.
